Today is the Feast Day of St. Junipero Serra.

Who was St. Junipero Serra?

Father Serra was a Franciscan priest who taught at a university. But he had a great desire to become a missionary in the new world. At the age of 37, despite having asthma and being of small stature, he journeyed to Mexico and then traveled north into California. He is most well known for establishing Catholic missions in California.
