24 Facts about the 4th of July You might not know!

1. We celebrate the adoption of the Declaration on July 4, not the signing.
               2. England didn’t find out about it until August 30!!
3.  The 4th of July wasn’t a federal holiday until 1870.
4.  Christmas was recognized as a federal holiday at the same time.
5.  The original draft of the Declaration of Independence was lost
6.  Pursuit of Property was changed to Pursuit of Happiness!
7.  John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826.
8.   That also happened to be the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration!
9.   James Monroe died on July 4, 1831

10.  President Zachary Taylor died in 1850 after eating spoiled fruit at a July 4 celebration.

11.   President Calvin Coolidge was born on the 4th of July!

16. The Liberty Bell was cast in England. The statue of Liberty came from France!
17.  The average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence was 45.
18.  The version of the Declaration that we are used to seeing is called the Dunlap Broadside. 200 copies were made.

20. One of those was found on the back of a picture frame at a tag sale.   It later sold for $8.14 million dollars.
