Spread the love

My kids always seemed to KNOW when other kids don’t have school and they always balked a little about it. My granddaughter is no different. But I do try to make President’s Day a special event in our homeschool.

It’s not all drudgery. When my kids were homeschooled, I had a contest to see who could learn the first 22 presidents in order. Noah usually won that!

Now that my granddaughter is a solitary homeschooled student, I give her a treat if she can do the same. This fun book, Yo, Millard Fillmore! has been a lot of fun for learning the presidents in chronological order.

But all is not drudgery. I found this web site with all of the photos and information about the presidents. For example here is the biography of Ulysses S. Grant.

I copied each picture into my computer, reformatted it, and then printed them out where we cut them out and then put them onto our time line! It was fun and I think gives the kids a better understanding of who goes where and when!

Last year, I wanted to do something a little more festive. I printed off this bookmarks from Productive Homeschooling. I made a simple triangle bunting and pasted the bookmarks to them and it turned out very festive!
