Coming back to homeschooling was NOT as difficult as I had anticipated. I had planned to just tip our toes into our harder subjects and then ease back into all of the subjects as the week went on. But Miss C. was ready to go and we did all of her subjects every single day!

This is the book we are reading for English with Bravewriter:

This is the same author who wrote The One and Only Ivan and The One and Only Bob. We loved those, so I’m looking forward to digging into this one.

Rosie started back as well and so far, I haven’t heard any complaints about her school work. She is also going to start the Dave Ramsey Financial Literacy Program at our co-op and also with me at home. Her siblings took this course and it really made a big impact on them and how they handle their money. Noah has already paid off his student loan debt, and Izzy has the highest net worth of all her siblings.

It’s a good course for grown-ups to listen to as well. You can order it here. I AM NOT an affiliate.

When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s, we sneered at the Soviet Union for deliberately gaslighting their people and withholding information from them.

I never thought when I hit my 60s, I’d be living through the same thing! Here’s an example.

4. I have a medial meniscal posterior root tear. My doctor referred me to a surgeon, who told me that trying to sew that meniscus up at my age is like trying to sew a seam in a piece of old deteriorated material. The stitches might hold, they might not. But they will probably tear again eventually, so why not just try physical therapy.

I’m happy to report that after my 4th PT session, I am doing very well with almost no pain. I have four more weeks to go, but I am very optimistic about avoiding this surgery. I just hope I’ll be able to resume walking in the spring.

The Diocese of Cleveland has issued a statement regarding Covid-19. Apparently, we have so many sick priests that weekday Mass help is no longer available. Parishes are to put a sign on their doors if they cannot have Mass due to the priests being sick or testing positive.

They have also cancelled all gatherings and events for the next few weeks.

But the kicker is, anyone who has significant fear or anxiety about attending mass is not obligated to attend.

I also note that at Saturday night vigil last week, I counted only about 122 people in the church. Most were masked. At the morning mass the next day it was significantly fuller and unmasked – it certainly is interesting to watch and see the responses to this.

Interestingly, right after this announcement my parish cancelled their Food, Fellowship and Faith gathering tonight for adults. The topic of discussion would have been, What to Do When Everything Seems Uncertain.
