Last month, we had a wedding in the family! My second son Sam married his long-time girlfriend and business partner, Kassi, in a beautiful church in the beautiful town of Sandusky, Ohio.

Long-time readers might remember that this is the girl he took to prom.

They also played in a band together for a few years.

Love bloomed, and so did the business they started together. And last month they permanently entwined their lives in a beautiful wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in Sandusky.

Of course his very best friend, brother, and bandmate was also the best man.

And his little sister, the baby girl I used to tuck into his bed in the morning so that I could work, did the second reading.

Mr. Pete and I had an interesting problem. We are not from Sandusky and we didn’t know anything about where to host a rehearsal dinner. My sweet daughter-in-law did some research for us and gave me a list of potential places to check out last spring. Mr. Pete and I visited them and we would have been lost without that list!

But one venue after another either turned us down, or wasn’t quite right for our group. After we checked out a few places, Mr. Pete suggested that we just walk around downtown Sandusky. We eventually came to Daly’s Pub! The atmosphere was quaint, the food was good, and the management was willing to work with us. The joke was that we had a taco bar meal in an Irish pub! And almost everyone had a great time.

We booked an Air BNB not far from Lake Erie. Mr. Pete was stuck there with me and these lovely ladies. If you’re in the Huron, OH area, I recommend this nice home by Katie!

Miss C. was the flower girl. This is her 5th time being a flower girl and I think she rocks at it.

The great thing about having your granddaughter as the flower girl is that I could tell her to go ask the DJ to play something at the reception and he couldn’t turn her down. Who could turn down that sweet face?

My current immediate family, except for my sister.

The outdoor reception was held at The Tobacconist Inn , about 20 minutes from the church. This also served as a place for the couple and the bridal party to stay for the entire weekend and provided enough valet parking for the guests.
