Outside My Window
I am thinking…
The Ohio House just passed the Heartbeat Bill last week. It has to go to the state Senate and then to the governor. I’m not sure they can get that all done before the end of the year. Governor Kasich vetoed the bill the last time, but this time, there are enough votes to override the veto.
So this Facebook Statement has gone kind of viral.
What I support is marriage and family. When an unexpected and unplanned pregnancy happened in my family, we stepped up. And we did that because it was OUR family and it was OUR responsibility and not anyone else’s. Medicaid, SNAP, TANF all that stuff is a help, but the real help should come from a strong family. I’m pro building more of those – not bigger government.
I am thankful…
Ohio had enough votes to pass the bill. I hope it gets to become a law.
I am pondering…
My Amazon cart. Right now I have gifts for 5 people – things they wanted and will make them happy – and I’m still under $200. Think I’ll wait to hit the buy button until Friday and see if I can get some better deals!
Also pondering that November 22 is Thanksgiving. It is also the 55th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy, the death of C.S. Lewis and it’s Saint Cecilia’s Feast Day!
One of my Favorite Things…
I wrote an easy Turkey Tutorial over the weekend – see it here!
In the kitchen…
Left over chili over potatoes tonight. Turkey enchiladas tomorrow and turkey tetrazini on Wednesday!
I am wearing…
Gray Hanes sweat pants, black T shirt and a gray hoodie from Woman Within.
I am going…
- Walking at least 3 days this week. Slowly transitioning to downstairs videos again. I got the okay from my doctor to do this after my last knee injection. I am to avoid heavy plyometrics – no problem!!
- PrayMoreNovenas.com but really trying to pray the rosary more this month. Special Effort to pray for the dead the rest of the month.
- to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations and Intermittent Fasting.
- Working on the “lose the mummy tummy” goal. I’ll be documenting that more in a special e-mail list. If you’d like to follow the ups and downs of that, click here. I’ve lost 5 pounds and even managed to stay on track on my long road trip last week.
- More flute practice this week.
- Get Christmas Cards ready.
- No Science class until next year, but my syllabus and Youtube channels are still available!
No school this week, so let’s see what the alumni are doing!
Ever since he was a little boy, Sam has wanted his own food place. Last week, he opened Nomz! a microeatery. They sold out a couple times over the weekend and exceeded their expectations! So proud of him.
Calvin was awarded last week at his job. He has brought 9 cardiac arrest patients back. Those people left the hospital in good health. He saved their lives! I’m pretty proud of him too.
His wife, Sarah, has been posting a plank challenge on her Facebook page last week. I wish I could share that with you. Between beating Calvin in a challenge and her dog photobombing the videos, she’s put some serious work into improving her core strength. Well done lady! Proud of her too!
Only 3 semesters of college to go after this one. Noah has been on the honor roll 4 times and will probably be this time too. His girlfriend is pretty sweet too!
One year on the job- and is now a seasonal manager with a nice raise to go with it. Super proud of her!
The guy that stepped up. A great daddy. So proud of him!
and a sweet granddaughter who said to me last week, “Grandma, let’s do more math. I love it!”
