Outside My Window
I am thinking…
Mr. Pete and I just got back from a long road trip to Oklahoma City. It was a 15-hour drive one way, which we broke up into two days of travel each way. Pete’s youngest brother, Paul, has a brain tumor. We went to celebrate his birthday with the rest of the brothers. It was the first time in a couple of years that all five of the brothers have been together.
It was also great to get reacquainted with all of those nieces and nephews as well as my fellow sister-in-laws.
I am thankful…
for these guys!
I am pondering…
the value of family. Mr. Pete’s siblings are scattered all around the country, but the brothers made a big effort to get together for this birthday celebration. It was truly a wonderful time to be part of this great family.
One of my Favorite Things…
We went to mass at the cathedral in Oklahoma City, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This window is in the back of the church. What a lucky organist to get to see this every Sunday!
In the kitchen…
I’m catching up from a long weekend. The kids at home ate up practically everything! I’m making chili tonight and I also bought a turkey at 38 cents per pound!
I am wearing…
Gray Hanes Sweat Pants and a gray thermal long sleeved shirt.
I am going…
- Walking at least 3 days this week. Slowly transitioning to downstairs videos again. I got the okay from my doctor to do this after my last knee injection. I am to avoid heavy plyometrics – no problem!!
- PrayMoreNovenas.com but really trying to pray the rosary more this month.
- to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations and Intermittent Fasting.
- Working on the “lose the mummy tummy” goal. I’ll be documenting that more in a special e-mail list. If you’d like to follow the ups and downs of that, click here. I’ve lost 5 pounds and even managed to stay on track over the weekend.
- More flute practice this week.
- Prepare for my science class. I’ve got a great disaster documentary about Super Storm Sandy for them to watch on Wednesday while I look over their lab books.
- Getting my Advent and Christmas mega list together too.

The baby is Pete’s youngest brother. Mr. Pete is second from the right. What a sweet picture.
