Outside My Window
Mum time in Ohio
I am thinking…
My prediction for how this supreme court thing will go this week – the FBI will work all week to get yet another check on Judge Kavanaugh. By Thursday night, some poor clerk typist or agent will be typing and collating all of the information gathered. Friday the Senators will complain that they did not have enough time to read the reports. A vote will be called. If he gets in the left will be screaming that it was unfair. If he doesn’t get in, the other side will be screaming that it was unfair. Either way it’s going to be a mess.
I am thankful…
that cross country season is almost over. And I usually dread it’s ending but this year I am looking forward to it. I don’t know how many more times I can hold Rosie while she sobs on my shoulder over a poor race result. And I don’t know what to do to help her improve. This week her nutrition was perfect. She got plenty of rest. We even got to the field 20 minutes before anyone else so that she could get an extra mile in so that she was warmed up for her race – the result was the worst one this season. But she did not run the day before for various reasons so maybe that was a factor. It’s like a science experiment that we just can’t seem to get right.
I am also grateful to the Diocese of Lansing. They were able to track down Rosie’s Baptismal Certificate. She had been baptized in St. Luke’s in Flint, MI. That parish, along with many others, have closed in that city. There is still a community center there of sorts and the nun there told me that a monsignor had come in and taken all of the records but she didn’t know where. So… did he take them to an archive or were they stuck in his basement somewhere? Well the archivist in the diocese was able to track it down and find it. So now I guess Rosie is set to be confirmed this spring.
I am pondering…
whether it is better to go through this process of confirmation in 8th grade, or just wait a few years and do it older when she can basically go through a much less arduous process and get confirmed at the Easter Vigil. I am also grateful that I was confirmed as an infant.
One of my Favorite Things…
In the kitchen…
Some kind of chicken dish. I’m planning to make chili too.
I am wearing…
Gray capris and a gray top with 3/4 length sleeves.
I am going…
- Walking, exercising, weight lifting and ab work as much as possible. I’m trying to make every walk a 3-mile walk in about an hour.
- PrayMoreNovenas.com.
- to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations and Intermittent Fasting.
- Working on the “lose the mummy tummy” goal.
- More flute practice in this week.
- Prepare my labs for Wednesday for my science class. We tried to crush a pop can last week and it simply did not work. It filled up with lots of water though. The kids enjoyed this video though.
- Give my editor more information for my book proposal.
