A few years ago we made these T-shifts for the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

June 2013 002

We got the directions for the Tie Dye Shirts here.

This year I made them with Rosie and Miss C. and this is how they turned out.

Mr. Pete is working to put a new bathroom over at a friend’s house. My friend wanted a shower that was completely handicap accessible. You could bring a wheel chair or walker in with no obstacles – no lips or ledges to maneuver over or around. Of course the problem to that is that while you want to be able to get in, you don’t want water to leak out.

Mr. Pete spent hours researching this and buying the right materials. He spent all last week deconstructing the bathroom and it should be up and running next week. Pictures to follow.

If this works out, he might do this for our bathroom as well. It makes sense because as we get older, our needs change but also because it should really add to the resale value of the house especially for older people or folks with special physical needs.

Before he started the bathroom job, Mr. Pete fixed the car after Gabe’s car accident last winter. The insurance company totalled it out and gave him the cost of the car in cash. From that he was able to buy parts and fix it himself!

He must have done a good job too because he took the car to the BMV here in Ohio and they certified it as road worthy!!

Now we just have to get Izzy to pass her driver’s test in it and I won’t have to drive her to work any more!

Rosie working on Bible Verses Through the Year that I bought in the Homemaking Bundle last year.

She gets to memorize scripture and make a pretty piece of art too. So far, homeschooling for summer isn’t so bad!

It wouldn’t be summer without the local library! I signed Rosie and Miss C. up for the summer reading program. We also started going to the weekly free movies! If I get Miss C. on Thursdays, we might hit the storytime as well.

One thing I really want to start this month is a little nature study. The year my mother died, I took the kids to a little pond to do some drawing. Naturally my little artists did some amazing work, but the boys who are NOT artistists enjoyed being outside and able to just concentrate on being in that environment. It was a peaceful experience and it brought me a needed respite from that difficult time in my life.

Now that Miss C. is trying to actually draw things I think this would be a good little exercise for her too and I can’t wait to see what she discovers!
