My posts on the sacrament of confirmation and writing a letter to your confirmation candidate get tons of searches on this blog. I always thought that was interesting – I was just sharing some of my experiences about that on my blog when my kids got confirmed. Nonetheless, I still get comments and even e-mails about it so I designed a template and a checklist of how to write a letter to your confirmation candidate – and it’s free. Rosie is going to be confirmed next year so I’ll probably be blogging about this more as the year proceeds. 


2.  Marcy Crabtree who blogs over at Ben and Me is having a Blog party this month with articles about “Why I Homeschool.”  If you’re looking for suggestions and encouragement, this would be a good series of articles to check out.

3.  I finally had my musical performance last Sunday. My harpsichordist managed to get her instrument into the building before the torrential rains and winds started up. Despite the terrible weather, the seats were filled and we had a very good crowd for our program. 

I had agonized over what to wear for this performance. I wanted to dress more casually since this was a Sunday afternoon performance. Slacks and a long-sleeved shirt would have been fine to me. My knee was still bothering me and so I wanted to wear my knee sleeve. But this was also a rare opportunity to be a soloist, so I decided to wear my pretty black dress with the rhinestones, but with very sensible shoes – and oh yes, my knee brace!  I figured it was better to wear the flat comfortable shoes and the brace than to misstep in high heels and make an unwelcome spectacle of myself if I should slip or misstep. 

Here’s one of the fan favorites we performed – the middle movement of the Bach Sonata in E flat major.


We did some more modern works too and as soon as I get those permissions in place, I’ll have them up for you. 

4.  Noah has one more week of school left!  He was inducted into a philosophy honor society last week – and he’s also getting to leave for Rome next month! But first, he has to get through final exams and a paper presentation. 





5.  Rosie in the meantime is preparing to do a piano performance next weekend, showcase some of her artwork, and perform in a production of Pride and Prejudice. The weeks will get busier before we get some of the slow days of summer!

6.  The Teach Them Diligently Convention is coming to Columbus in June. The rates are very reasonable, $65 for a family. Lots of speakers and a vendors hall too!
