Outside My Window
They are starting to advertise my upcoming concert. That’s it at the bottom under 4/15 – Yetter LaVictoire.
I guess folks won’t know won’t know what a Yetter LaVictoire is. Perhaps after the concert above us is over, they can elaborate with Harpsichord/Flute!

I am thinking…
We are doing a lot of different musical styles at the concert – From Bach to American Folk. One of our selections is this piece by Elton John that was actually written for harpsichord!
Those of us old enough to remember might recall that in the early 1970s harpsichord was actually quite popular. Remember the opening of the Partridge Family theme? That was a harpsichord. And remember Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkle? That also featured harpsichord. Since Skyline Pigeon was recorded in 1968 originally, I’ll bet it was the forerunner!
I am thankful…
that when I was in the 5th grade my mom allowed me to start playing the flute in our little school band. She paid for lessons and drove me dutifully to them every week. When it was time for me to upgrade from my studentline Bundy, she did that too.
I’m also grateful to my husband who allowed me to upgrade from that flute to my current Yamaha with a Jack Moore head joint. I have been very blessed in the flute department.
I am pondering…
How we will manage to celebrate my birthday boys’ birthdays this year. Two of my sons work at the same restaurant which works them long hours six days a week – sometimes on opposition shifts. Noah has a concert on the Sunday I would like to have had the party, and everyone is working on Saturday. I’m almost thinking that I should just take Mr. Pete out for his birthday on his actual birthday, which will be a Thursday this year.
One of my Favorite Things…
She’s not supposed to be on the furniture. She obviously doesn’t care.
I am hearing…
Noah getting ready for school.
In the kitchen…
Italian Chicken, mashed potatoes and salad
I am wearing…
Gray sweat pants, black thermal shirt, and gray hoodie. I am NOT wearing a knee sleeve!! Yea!!
I am going…
- Upper body workouts and core and adding more aerobics with a little step. My knee felt a little sore after yesterday but I iced it again and took my Mobic prescription from Walgreens. What seems to bother my knee the most is walking up and down the stairs a gazillion times a day. I’m trying to be smarter about that and plan my ups and downs, and send Rosie if possible!!
- add some additional novenas next year with the help of PrayMoreNovenas.com
- to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations and Intermittent Fasting.
- Preparing my general science lesson for Wednesday. This week I have made a lung out of a pop bottle, balloon and plastic bag!
- Keep practicing my recital pieces.
- Help Noah apply for some scholarships.
- Getting back into blogging – I just needed a short break!
From the Learning Rooms…
My Granddaughter is in the Five-in-a- Row curriculum at Co-op and we try to follow through on the days she is with me.
This week in Five-in-a-Row they will be reading
Maryrose:
Rosie is also taking a writing class online using the Once Upon a Time Saint series as the writing
prompt.
We have a schedule! Rosie writes her history paper every Monday based on what she has read in her history the week before. Also on Monday, she reads her assignment in Once Upon a Saint. Then on Tuesday she writes her assignment for that class and turns in her paper. Thursday is for revisions.
This semester she is also going to do drama so we will start reading
