Outside my window…
Tracking the eclipse with the kitchen colander!
Seemed fitting to get a picture of the TARDIS in the light of the 80% eclipse!
Seven more years baby – and there will be a 100% eclipse over Cleveland! Rosie will be getting ready to go to college, Mr. Pete and I will be retirement age, (although not ready to retire), Miss C will be 10! And maybe Noah will be ordained and Izzy married – a lot can happen in 7 years!
I am thinking…
about a telephone conversation I had with my oldest son last week. We talked on the phone for an hour and a half – and it seemed like only 15 minutes! We covered what’s going on with him and his wife, what’s going on with all of his siblings, world events, politics, the church, finances – pretty much everything. And I really, really enjoyed our conversation.
If you had told me 10 years ago that the surly teenager would become a settled married man and that our relationship would be 100% improved, I would have seriously doubted you. But he did, and it has. Maybe I’ve grown up a bit myself too!
I am thankful…
that I live in a time where communicating with my children is so easy! I think of Father Damien’s mother and their final farewell, knowing that they would never see each other again, and they didn’t!
I am pondering…
school days. My high school class got together over the weekend for a reunion. I wasn’t able to go because we’ve been on the road too much this summer and I really needed to work on the flip house with Mr. Pete. But I enjoyed all of the pictures coming through on Facebook.
One of my Favorite things
A beautiful Victorian house not far from Lake Michigan, in Manistee. I couldn’t resist getting a picture of it.
I am hearing…
crickets! during the eclipse.
In the kitchen…
Barbecue chicken tonight!
I am wearing…
Black Skort and gray shirt but will be puttin gon workout pants to walk with Rosie this evening during the last Cross Country Practice at 7 p.m.
I am going…
- to walk or workout everyday with Pfilates, arms and abs! With all the scraping and painting in the flip house- arm workout is no problem
- to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations. I’m changing this to cut – out carbs. I’m going to go the rest of the way and ditch corn and potatoes too. That sounds really radical but necessary. I’m going to be blogging soon about weight loss, plateaus, and paleo.
- Practicing Bach’s Sonata in E flat.
- Plan my General Science class. I have my list, but no money yet from the students. Luckily the first day won’t be a big deal experiment-wise.
- Start planning life after the flip house – just have to get it livable for Gabe to move in next week!
Nothing right now per se. My kids wanted me to watch Daredevil on Netflix so I’m spending free time doing that.
.
From the Learning Rooms…
We started science today! Nothing too big but my entire General Science class will have to do some reading this week and next if we want to get the entire book done in a little over 24 weeks!
Planning some literature books for our school year around the Boomerang and Arrow at Bravewriter.
A quote to share…
OK, this is funny – I don’t care what side you’re on!
Under Obama, zero eclipses.Under Trump, greatest eclipse in a hundred years. Booming eclipse glasses manufacturing sector.
