Outside my window…

July 2016 048

The last of the hydrangeas are blooming!

I am thinking…
About how much we have to do to get the flip house ready to rent by the end of the month! Mr. Pete spent most of his weekend over there working. I spent Saturday afternoon scraping wallpaper out of the back bedroom. We have 4 more weeks to get this move-in ready!

I am thankful…
that we have deadlines for this!  The city gave us a deadline to get the outside ready and we met it!  The house passed inspection.  Getting it ready for Gabe and Miss C. to move into before the end of the month is added incentive.

I am pondering…

How I am going to get a 30-week science course taught in 24 weeks with our co-op!  I have a feeling it’s possible, but the students are going to have to do some work before and after the co-op dates.

One of my Favorite things

Sam my second son and first homeschool graduate, worked lots of overtime,  saved his money, sacrificed, and bought his very first car. He now owns his own vehicle and has no car payments!

I am hearing…
the air conditioner.

In the kitchen…
Spaghetti, pork chops, and eggs with sausage on the menu this week!

I am wearing…
Gray skort and a black T-shirt.

I am going…

  • to walk or work out every day with Pfilates, arms and abs!
  • to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations. I am still limiting carbs but I am really trying the intermittent fasting now. I fast for about 16 hours between 7 p.m. and 11 a.m.  My walking time is moving to the evenings this week as the official cross country season starts for Rosie.
  • Practicing Bach’s Sonata in E flat.
  • Plan my General Science class.
  • Handling registrations for our co-op – which is an organized nightmare!
  • Start planning Rosie’s homeschool schedule.

I am reading…

In honor of the feast day yesterday I found this on Amazon for 99 cents.

Listening to this for the second time.

This is an awesome book for anyone who wants to understand gender issues in this country and where we stand as a society.

One of the things I really want to do with Rosie this year is to cultivate more of the Bravewriter Lifestyle in our homeschool, particularly tea time and movie day.  I have done movie day in the past and it was a big hit but I sort of moved away from that last year. This year, I think we should get back to it and include Miss C. if possible.

The girls are still taking art classes. This is Izzy’s latest.

And Rosie’s.

Last week we painted shells for the feast of St. James the Greater. Miss C moved quickly and easily from right hand to left hand with ease!

Don’t forget, “High School Testing – Simply Explained is this week!” In this free workshop, Lee will go in depth on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT to give you the understanding you need to ensure your child’s success. There are even two dates and times to choose from, to make it easier for you to attend live!
High School Testing – Simply Explained
August 3rd at 1 PM PST
OR
August 4th at 10 AM PST
Lee compares major high school tests, discusses general strategies and study tips, and shares how her sons homeschooled one year of college using CLEP exams. You’ll also receive a handy high school testing chart!

Ohio readers might be particularly interested in this workshop as they prepare to get their kids into College Credit Plus. Some schools (such as The University of Akron) require an ACT or SAT score before you can participate. 7th grade is NOT too early to start planning for that and this workshop could be very helpful in determining how to help your student with high school testing.

One of Rosie’s last times this summer to run with the high school boys. She’s the last one in pink, but for 12 years old, I think she did pretty well keeping up with high school boys!
