Outside my window…

July 2016 048

I am thinking…
about one of my sons who told me last week that he gets life insurance at work – and he has listed his girlfriend as the beneficiary. I guess the shock must have shown on my face because he said, “Well you don’t need the money, Mom.”

This just puts all sorts of questions out there though. If he dies, and she gets insurance money, who pays for final expenses? Who makes final arrangements? I think it’s more complicated than just who gets the money and I’ll bet it’s something he has never considered since he is still in his mid 20s.

I am thankful…
for my final transcription customer who ended our relationship a few weeks ago as he is required to get into the electronic medical record. Dr. H. sent me a lovely heartfelt, handwritten thank you note in appreciation for my almost 25 years of service to him. That means the world to me.

I am pondering…
my next step.

One of my Favorite things

I love this little girl. She is fearless!

I am hearing…
the air conditioner and the girls playing Legend of Zelda in the next room.

In the kitchen…
made this without the potatoes – delicious!

I am wearing…
Black skort and black t-shirt with my black walking shoes.

I am going…

  • to walk or work out every day with Pfilates .  I’m walking on the trail every day now, working in arms and abs.
  • to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations. I am still limiting carbs but I am really trying the intermittent fasting now. I fast for about 16 hours between 7 p.m. and 11 a.m.  and my walking time happens during those hours. So far, no problems.
  • Practicing Bach’s Sonata in E flat.
  • Plan my General Science class.
  • Getting ready for Izzy’s grad party!
  • Handling registrations for our co-op.

I am reading…

Started listening to this for the second time today.

This is an awesome book for anyone who wants to understand gender issues in this country and where we stand as a society.

“One can’t help but notice that, in attempting to clarify its own inaccuracy about the non-gendered pronouns, the Times is forced to refer back to gendered language as the anchoring framework.”
