7-Quick Takes

1.  Rosie has been painting up a storm – she updated all of her Peg Saints. This is her latest of Kateri Tekakawitha – note the feathers in her head dress, the lilly, and the cross.

This is her Maria Goretti.  Since Maria was just a little girl, Rosie drew her feet so that she appears to be standing on something. As she explained it to me, that’s why she can be a kid and still as tall as the other adult Peg Saints.

2.  Then Rosie and Miss C. painted scalloped sea shells for the feast of Saint James the Greater!

3. Can we PLEASE GET AWAY FROM THE USE OF THE WORD PRIVILEGE!! Simcha Fisher – (I have a love/hate relationship with her writing – it’s complicated) wrote an essay this week about the privilege of NOT using NFP.  Well, what’s next – the privilege of being married instead of shacking up?

I’m starting to REALLY HATE THAT WORD.

Look, if you’re alive in the 21st century and you live in the United States and you have food and a roof over your head – you are privileged. Everything after that is gravy. Let’s quit shaming each other over things we can’t control like race, sex, health etc. and keep your eyes on your own paper instead of comparing yourself to everyone else!

4.  So we were under  A LOT of pressure from the city to get the outside of the flip house up to par.

Apparently, once a complaint has been made on a property, they have to stay with it until all the complaints are addressed. No one mentioned this to us when we purchased the house, but those problems became our problems as soon as we became the owners.  We had until Monday to get everything done and last weekend was our big painting extravaganza!

During – with Mr. Pete’s handy, dandy spray painter.  It looks easy but there was a lot of taping and covernig that had to happen before he could just spray away the old white paint!

Bottom line- we passed the inspection. Now on to the inside work!

5.  If you are as confused about the current state of affairs in this nation when it comes to sexuality, you need to get this book. It explains how all of this confusion came about, and what it means for men and women! In light of everything that is being written about Trump and transsexuals in the military, this is a handy book to have on the ready.   Start with Chapter 4 if you need to know more about women and sexuality in the military, police or fire team.
