Outside my window…

The last of my tulips

I am thinking…

A lot of things – how strange it is to have Noah around all the time now that school is out.
How much I wish I could still cover with Rosie this school year.
Wondering what direction Izzy will take next year.
What to do with Miss C for summer and fall planning. She tells me she will be 4 years old, so we should definitely start some school things for her.

I am thankful…
for the sacrament of confession and I plan to get there next week.

I am pondering…
something has been bothering me terribly this past week. I will be blogging on this next week. If you are at all interested in the state of birth in this country, Ina Mae Gaskin, and women listening to each other, particularly black women and white women, then you’ll want to check these things out first. I will be blogging about them later.

And then watch the video that started the controversy here.

One of my Favorite things

This was one of the books that helped me heal emotionally and mentally after my first horrible birth experience. It’s very dated – written in 1976 it just oozes the hippie, free-spirited mentality of the time. But this book helped to open my eyes to what birth should be and could me and it gave me some of the determination I needed to successfully have a VBAC birth 3 1/2 years later, and a home birth 2 years after that.

I am hearing…
tinnitus, a car speaker booming outside, Rosie listening to something on Youtube.

In the kitchen…
Not sure this week, but I’m pretty sure at least one meal will be meat loaf.

I am wearing…
Black pants from church, black T-shirt, brown sweater, and my workout shoes.

I am going…

I am reading…

This week was kind of difficult because we had three rehearsals for Peter Pan and then the actual performance on Friday night. Here’s Rosie’s big moment.

    Starkey!!

The very next day, she performed in the Youth Arts Showcase sponsored by the library.

She played three pieces, without a single mistake.

Her art work was also on display.

Izzy was more behind the scenes for Peter Pan. She worked many hours on the two panels of wallpaper for the nursery in scene one.

    A quote to share…

“Remember this, for it is as true and true gets:  Your body is not a lemon. You are not a machine.  The Creator is not a careless mechanic.  Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth well as aardvarks, lions, rhinoceri, elephants, moose, and water buffalo.  Even if it has not been your habit throughout your life so far, I recommend that you learn to think positively about your body.”

“If a woman doesn’t look like a goddess during labor, then someone isn’t treating her right.”
