What do those homeschoolers do at their dances?  Our co-op hosted one last weekend. It was a black and white themed 1920s dance with beautiful decorations and great food. The parents catered the food and served it. Mr. Pete, Rosie and I bussed tables.

There was a DJ who played mainly hits of the 20s, 30s, and 40s and taught the kids how to swing dance, contra dance, and do the Charleston. Finally at the end of the evening, they put on some pop music and kids did their own thing.

In between dances, they also took some time to honor the seniors by reading their bios and a sharing some photos.

Here is a line dance near the end of the evening – and because I realized it might be the last time Izzy and Noah are ever at a homeschool dance together again, I thought I might record it. Izzy in red, and Noah right behind her.

2.  Last weekend was also the last week for soccer. Izzy is eligible for one more year, but who knows what the future will bring and whether or not she will be able to devote Saturday to soccer! So I got some pictures of that too!

Calvin and Sarah came up for the wedding they were both in last weekend. Since February they have been up three times – once for the bridal shower, once for the bachelor and bachelorette parties, and then for the wedding itself. We got to see them at least a little bit each time.  But now they have very little vacation time left for this year, and they are moving into their first house in a few weeks, so we probably won’t see them much at all for a while. But it was great to get the entire family together at least one more time.

I went 16 weeks without having a scintillating scotoma – and durned if I haven’t had at least one a week since then. So since I needed to get my eyes checked anyway, I had a full eye exam and got some new glasses.  None of that will stop this scotoma thing from happening, but it was good to know that my eyes are in good shape and I really like having new glasses – with the transition lenses!

Interestingly, my eye doctor also gets this, especially when she is stressed out, so now I have to figure out what is triggering mine.

5. I ordered Izzy’s graduation ring  from Jewlr.  I had ordered graduation rings for Calvin and Sam when they graduated. Calvin’s ring depicted his swimming and I believe had a religious symbol. Sam’s had something for his music and also either a cross or some other faith symbol.  Neither boy wears their ring, though both assure me they know where it is. I wear my ring all the time now because my grandparents bought it for me. I wear it more in remembrance and thanksgiving for them than to remember my actual high school.

Noah did not want a ring, so we bought him a religious medal with his patron saint, St. Polycarp on it.

But Izzy really wanted a ring, but she wanted something very small. So this is what she wanted. It has a black quartz stone, which is also what she wanted.  Can’t wait to see it when it gets here next week.

6. I have her diploma ordered too from Homeschooldiploma.com. That won’t come for a few weeks, but it’s good to have that checked off my To-Do List!

7. Noah finally found a summer job and they started him out within two days of interviewing him! He’s bagging groceries at the local grocery store, but he enjoys his co-workers, management is nice and most of his customers are pleasant as well. He’ll have just enough hours and still have time to get his running in – I think he’s going to have a great summer!
