Spread the love

I ‘ve been sitting here the past couple of days trying to digest the actions of my fellow citizens at the inauguration and the (some) Woman’s March on Washington.

And no wonder – a lot of it just gave me indigestion.

The main word that kept popping into my head was “disrespect.”

Sure, disrespect for the new president and his administration, but even more to the point- disrespect to any citizen that didn’t agree with the view that Hillary Clinton deserved to be the first female commander in chief. And because these predominantly liberal, Democrat, pro-choice, pro-LGBTQLMNOP, climate change folks  are so shocked, disheartened and disappointed that their gal lost, and Donald Trump won, they are having a collective melt down and further dividing the country.

You know, I get it. It felt pretty lousy in 2008 and 2012 to see Obama take power – a man who once voted to deny medical care to little babies that survived an abortion attempt and suggested that maybe grandma would be better off taking a pain pill than getting proper medical care. It felt kinda awful then to watch him put programs and systems into place that I  saw as thoroughly against my belief system, especially when it came to the Supreme Court. But I didn’t lay down and cry like a little girl. I didn’t waste time knitting whatever the equivalent of a conservative pussy hat would be. No, I put on my big girl pants and tried to deal the hand that was dealt, while hoping that America would wake up.

What happened over the weekend with the protests at the inauguration and at the (some) Woman’s March was insulting. If the same thing had happened in 2008 and 2012 the left would have shouted about racism and fascism and they would have used their political correctness to shame and silence the dissent.

So let’s get real about what those protests were and were not.

1.  The crowd.  I expected crowds to be huge because it was Saturday and because funding always mysteriously appears to bus protesters wherever they are needed to be. I knew that many of those folks would be law abiding and peaceful. But I also knew that an element there would not be.

In my opinion, this is the scariest thing about liberals right now.  They know the low road well and they aren’t afraid to take it.

2. What the heck were they really protesting?  Ask 10 women and get 10 different answers.

Although the majority are very adamant that abortion rights are a big reason. And yes, there were some pro-lifers there, but not officially as partners. In fact, they were practically asked not to come and some that did show up were not welcome.

3. Do you really want to be associated with this?

4. And while we’re at it, since “pussy” or female genitalia seems to be the theme of the day, can we get real about what Trump did and didn’t say?

And when you’re a star they let you do it. They let you do anything, whatever you want. Grab them by the pussy, you can do anything.

So apparently in this country, we are strongly against grabbing female genitalia, even if women implicitly or explicitly invite celebrity types to do so.

But we are not so against displaying, portraying and otherwise tantalizing with female genitalia. Even the key speakers don’t see the disconnect with that. See also here and here.

What hypocricy.

5. I know a lot of very good people did not vote for Trump. I know a few of them personally. But to participate in these protests last week, especially for Catholics, (except for groups like Students for Life who are part of the Church Militant and bravely face ridicule and risk of personal harm daily) was to cause scandal and shame.  The Simcha Fisher’s of the world are simply wrong on this. Wrong if for any other reason, because we now have the chance to reshape the Supreme Court and that alone was a good reason to vote against the pro-abortion candidate, Hillary Clinton.  Why would you want to protest against that if you are Catholic and pro-life? Seeing pictures of smiling faces on Facebook just made choke with surprise and grief  – that’s what scandalous behavior does.

6. But there is a light side – these tweets against the march are worth noting!

But hey – no arrests!
