Getting the Christmas Tree

I am thinking…
that the electors better do the right thing and give their votes to the candidates the way the people in their districts voted.

I also think it’s troubling that the left is concerned about the Russians, or whoever, hacking the election and releasing the damning e-mails – but they are not concerned about what those e-mails said! As a citizen, that’s the part I find particularly troubling.

I am thankful…
for the end of advent.

I am pondering…
relationships with liberal friends in this post-Obama world.

Charles Krauthammer once said, To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.
If you think your opponents are evil, you tend to be okay with using tactics that you would describe as “evil” under other circumstances to fight them. If you’re up people you compare to Nazis, it’s easy to tell yourself that lying to beat them isn’t so bad. If you’re in a dispute with people who you believe are just too stupid to understand what’s going on, you feel compelled to try to explain yourself a little better.

This week I had occasion to bump into a liberal acquaintance of mine who knew I was a conservative. This person literally used hands to cover eyes so that I would essentially be invisible. But why wouldn’t they? if the liberal view truly is that conservatives are evil, then of course, you wouldn’t want to look one in the eye! How sad it is that our nation remains so divided.

I am hearing…
Rosie’s piano pieces for Christmas Eve! Also listening to the Christmas music we did at our concert last week.

This one was had a lot of technical things for the flute, but it really is a lovely piece with the choir.

In the kitchen…
Last night we had the Hot Spicy Chicken Dip with chips. Tonight is stew with Root Beer Floats for desert.

I am wearing…
a deep maroon velvet dress and black cover.

I am going…
