Just kidding.  This is a picture Mr. Pete took last week on his excellent New Mexico adventure, where he represented the family in that law suit I blogged about before.

I am thinking…
the lawyer for the plaintiffs in the case we just went through was a bit of a jerk.  Based on this picture from 1988, he tried to make the jury see us as happy-go-luck, irresponsible girls. He has never met us, or talked to us.

On the other hand since I am over 50 with six children and a grand child, maybe I should just appreciate it when someone refers to me as “a girl!”

I am thankful…
that the suit is over, and that Mr. Pete came back safe and sound.  He actually had to get on a plane in New Mexico around 8 a.m. and made it into Cleveland at 3:05. I put my big girl pants on and braved the airport traffic to pick him up.  We made it home by 5 p.m. and then by 6:30 he was taking Rosie to the father/daughter dance!

I am reading…

BTW- this is an awesome book for Catholics unfamiliar with Sister Faustina and the Divine Mercy.

I am pondering...
how our awesome God works!

I am also pondering how sins can be generational.  My great grandfather was abusive to his wife and children. As a result, my grandmother had a very tough inner core and she wouldn’t take any disrespect (actual or perceived) from any one. She also demanded that her daughter liver her life a certain way. As a result, my mother rebelled and married my father – and moved way on the other side of the country. And today, my sister and I continue to clean up that mess.

I shared all of this with Noah and Izzy this week and I found myself in tears before I was through. I didn’t mean to do that, but what I wanted them to hear was that I had tried very, very hard to break that cycle and just have a normal loving family!  I hope they understand that.
