I am thinking…
about Father Mc Donough’s funeral tomorrow.

I heard another funny story about him.  Apparently during one mass he forgot to say the Our Father. Being of a certain age myself, I can totally understand this kind of a slip.  But anyway, he remembered and he went back and the congregation said it, and then he went on with the mass.

A friend of mine went up to him afterwards and said, “Hey Father, do I have to go to the next mass too because this one was invalid without the Our Father in the right place?” and Father M cracked up and laughed at his own forgetfulness.  I really admire a guy that can laugh at his own mistakes and laugh with other people about them too!  I think that’s a sign of very good character.

I am thankful…
for knowing Father M.

I’m also thankful that I was at just the right age to know the musical David Bowie, and not so aware during his more wild times.

In the kitchen…
Pot roast in the crock pot with veggies!

I am wearing…
Sweat pants and a brown sweater, but today for the funeral I will be wear a long-sleeved black dress velveteen dress.

I am reading…

I found this in my mother’s book collection, so I’m going to look it over for suggestions this week.

I am pondering...
and grieving the late great David Bowie.   This is one of my favorites – and yeah, that’s David Sanborn on Sax and Luther Vandross on backup vocals.

He finally settled down, got married, had another child, and was a loving husband for over 20 years until his death  – for an entertainer, that’s really something.

One of my favorite things…

Little Miss C now officially calls me ” Ga ma” which is her way of saying “Grandma.”  She also says “I you” which is short for “I love you.”  She will also say “please” and “thank you”, but if she says “please” you better be in the act of giving her what she is asking for.  She also says “bess you” for “God Bless You” only she says it for a cough as well as a sneeze!

Today I lay down with her for her nap and we both fell into a deep, deep sleep, sweaty-toddler-with- wet-hair kind of deep sleep.  The I-can-no-longer-feel-the-ends-of-my-finger-tips-because-she-fell- asleep-on-my-arm, deep sleep. And I loved it.  Cuddling with my sleeping toddler granddaughter is one of the best parts of being a grandmother.

Goals…
Lent is literally about a month away. So in the interest of becoming centered, and focusing on my spiritual life, I am avoiding certain Facebook pages, and certain blogs, and starting to wean off now!
