1. I actually had a baby on the 20th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. You can read that birth story here. I was always kind of proud of the timing of that – sort of my very special protest against that abortion decision and a way of saying yes to life.

2. I finished my first FAFSA form online – I didn’t think it was particularly difficult but it was kind of time consuming.  With the Pell Grant and Stanford Loan they said he could qualify for, Noah should be almost set for his tuition next year.  I’m also looking for some scholarships to apply for and found two that look promising.

3. Izzy has a chance to sell some of her jewelry next week at a convention – the only problem is that she will have to miss her chemistry class to go out of town to do this.

After some discussion, Mr. Pete and I came to the conclusion that Izzy will never be a chemist, but she might do well in sales, and she certainly does pretty well in jewelry design – she she’s going to the convention.

That’s one of the beauties of homeschooling – meeting the individual needs of the student!

4. It’s official – my sister-in-law was cremated last weekend and her brother has her ashes. Sometime in the spring, she will be have a funeral mass and a burial in a spot by her parents. This was a little tricky because although Irene was baptized and received her other sacraments in the church, she
was not a practicing Catholic. But this is the Year of Mercy – and so we’re going to ask for some – for her soul, and for us.

5. With a major storm heading for Washington DC today, I was surprised to read that so many of my Catholic friends are still desperate to get there for the March for Life!  I know one mom that left with her teen last night to be there. Another mom was begging any church bus that had room to please take her daughter!!

I’m pro-life.

I’m also scared to death of traffic fatalities – probably because I have known too many people who have died or had their lives changed drastically by them.

So God bless the people who are fighting the weather to get to the March and participate.  But I’ll do my prayers and fasting at home today. May this horrible era in our nation’s history come to an end soon Oh Lord.

6.  Pete got a job from a company in Cleveland to overhaul a tuba.  And not just any tuba – but this one!  or one like it- from Damon Bryson of The Roots, also known as Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show Band!

Overhaul done- customer pleased!

7. Speaking of Mr. Pete’s musical instrument repair business – for years their motto has been “We work so you can play!”  But a friend of his recently submitted this one!  I think it’s funny.
