Outside my window…

I am thinking…
about a relative that died on Saturday.  His name was Don and he was the husband of my mom’s cousin. Apparently it was love at first sight – or at least pretty quickly!  He made enough of an impression that my grandmother even wrote my mom about him back in 1958.

He was a gentle man, a good husband and father. I have many great memories of going to their house almost every year for cookouts and dinners. He always shared his hospitality with me and my family. Don was a clergyman as well and shared those gifts throughout the many events in my extended family – from saying grace at the reunion dinner to giving a few prayers at a graveside.

He was a quiet steadying influence on us all and he will be missed.

I am thankful…
to have been blessed with such a wonderful extended family.

I have…
cross country meets and soccer games in my future, as well as homeschooling, which is really challenging this year!  Instead of going to the homeschool hike on Friday, we stayed home and Izzy and I worked on her chemistry all day.  All. Day.  – and not the fun part either – the MATH part.

Noah, on the other hand, barely read the text, didn’t do any of the practice problems, and aced the chemistry test.  I think he should teach her.

  • to walk or work out every day with Pfilates.  Trying to get back some weight work out as well.
  • add the last few subjects we haven’t started yet – mainly social studies.

A quote to share…
If men were plagued by a cancer of mysterious origin that assailed the organ that most basically defined them, and if the only way to diagnose that cancer was to strip a man naked, take that organ and smash it flat between two plates of glass and then shoot it with radiation that they feared might feed that cancer or create another one — well, my guess is men would find another way.
