I am thinking…
about Rosie’s birthday party.

When I turned 10, my mother organized a wonderful birthday party for me, complete with games, and cake and a tour of our farm and a quiz.  I still remember it as one of my fondest birthday memories.

I always celebrated the birthdays with my boys, but for the girls they just seem to need something more sentimental to hold on to.

And no matter what, I made sure Izzy had a special 10th birthday, under trying circumstances.

So over the weekend, I invited Rosie’s friends and we had a big birthday bash for her too!

I am thankful…
for my beautiful daughter, Izzy, who helped plan the games for her sister, made 30 clay owls to hide for a scavengar hunt,

and made a very cute owl cake!  I really couldn’t have done it without her!

so much love for this young man.

He has really stepped up to be a good daddy for his little girl. He works, he keeps house, cooks, and cleans.  He just amazes me.

In the kitchen…
something with sweet potatoes in it.  Maybe stuffed sweet potatoes with pork chops tomorrow?

  • to walk or work out every day but Thursday with Pfilates.  Luckily, summer running club starts tomorrow!
  • Get ready for our annual review with Dr. Holinga.

I am hoping to …

  • Get lots of flute practice done.
  • Organizing my office and the classroom – since track season is now over, I might actually accomplish these first two goals this week!
  • Get a budget and time table together on our new real estate venture. We actually closed!  It’s all ours.

the roofers coming this week so that we can get this big job started. Mr. Pete’s favorite part?   the bathroom of course!

A quote to share…

A woman is a woman. She has earned that title. She pays for that title. She suffers with that title and gives life with that title and lives from conception until death and beyond with that title. She is that title. She should not be told that it’s such a flimsy thing that a man with enough money can buy his way into it. It’s demeaning and reductive, and as a father and a husband and a son and a brother, I take exception to it. I can only imagine how women might feel if they were only allowed to be open about it.
