I am thinking…
about the Catholic Women‘s Blogging Network Conference I went to last week. I met some great ladies, made some new friends, and discovered some wonderful blogs! This was the first time I have ever gone to a blog conference of any kind, and it was a very good experience!  You can find a great re-cap of events over on my new friend Melody’s blog, Blossoming Joy.

I am thankful…

that this big guy came up for Memorial Day weekend.  I got to spend at least a day with him before he had to go back.

When he was getting ready to go, I could see that his fiance was having a very hard time watching him go and I felt so sad for her. But her mom and dad were there to comfort her and Rosie gave her a big hug. As Calvin was driving away his eyes lingered on her, but just before driving off he looked directly at me. I’m the #2 woman in his life now and that’s okay. I’m grateful to be at least that.

Unexpectedly, the uneasiness in my heart isn’t because my son isn’t with me, but because these two aren’t together – yet. I’m really looking forward to that wedding day!

Seeing my sons laugh together.

I am hoping to …

  • Get lots of flute practice done.
  • Plan Rosie’s 10th birthday party!
  • Organizing my office and the classroom – since track season is now over, I might actually accomplish these first two goals this week!
  • Get a budget and time table together on our new real estate venture. We actually closed!  It’s all ours.

I am looking forward to...

Enjoying Saturday’s without soccer!
A quote to share…
  1. The best marriages, like the best lives, were both happy and unhappy. There was even a kind of necessary tension, a certain tautness between the partners that gave the marriage strength, like the tautness of a full sail. — Anne Morrow Lindbergh (Dearly Beloved)

Izzy and Noah goofing off before the dance!

Oh, and today’s my birthday.  Not a milestone birthday, but another year older anyway, and I’m grateful for that!

  1. Ah, your description of your son and his fiance took me back. My husband and I dated for 7 years, but only during the first 3 did we live in the same state. The drive away from each other was always difficult. BUT! You also gave me some hope. With 5 boys who are very much mama's boys, I'm already worried about getting bumped to #2. I'm glad to hear that when the time comes, I may be OK with it. 🙂

I read Killing Kennedy. Very interesting. I didn't know half of the events in his life before reading it.

I'm looking forward to weekends without soccer, too. One more marathon tournament weekend and we'll be free!
