Spread the love

Driver’s ed, birthday party, convention – busy, busy life.  Here’s a recap!

Outside my window…
Most mornings I walk two or  more miles on the tow path while I am waiting for Noah to run with the cross country team.  Many mornings I can hear the frog in the water, but I could never see him, until yesterday!

I am thinking…
Mama died five years ago last week.  At the time I had no idea how I would be able to live a life without her in it.  Time has healed a lot of the sorrow, but I still miss her very much.  I wonder what she would have thought about us now, and how  much she would love her great granddaughter.

Izzy’s 15th birthday was Monday!   There’s been a lot of healing from that too. She is such a beautiful and sweet girl and I am blessed that she is my daughter.

I am thankful…
that I was able to attend the very last CHEO convention – ever as it turns out.  They are collaborating with another group next year and moving the convention to Sandusky in May.  It will be at the Kalahari Resort, so that’s something to look forward to!

This year’s keynote speaker was Steve Scheiber, who was the pilot signed up to fly the first plane that crashed on 9/11/2001.  He had a wonderful message of not being a someday saint, but instead a borrowed time believer.  Here is a short, award winning film done by Dr. Scheiber’s son.

In the kitchen…
Some more recipes from this gem!!

Thinking of an orange fish recipe!

I am wearing…
black pants, pink knit shell top.

I am wondering…
how long it will take us to watch all of the Dr. Who episodes?   We started watching the new Dr. Who on Netflix at the beginning of the summer.  We are currently up to season 4 after watching one or two episodes a night as a family.  This is really a fun family thing we are doing together and I think it will make quite a memory for the summer of 2014.

I am going…

  • to walk Monday – Thursday and try get some arm workouts in too.
  • I’m also going to upload the kid’s piano recital but of course since I am now on Windows 7 I have to figure out how to do all of that.
  • Take Rosie to swim classes.
  • Pray for my math tutor and his family who will welcome twins this fall.
  • Really double down on my prayer time this summer – making morning prayer with divine office. com a habit!

I have the app on my Kindle and my cell phone.
I am pondering…

I am thinking of making my prayer corner a place in my room – but I need to clean a space for it first!

I am reading…

From the Learning Rooms…

Noah took a practice test for CLEP US History 2 and is in striking distance of passing!!!

Noah also got a 21 on his practice ACT exam.

Izzy was accepted as one of 70 students into the art program for the City of Akron.  She will be working on a mosaic!  She is reading To Kill a Mocking Bird.

The three of us are reading Farewell to Arms.

Rosie has swimming lessons.

One of my favorite things…

Sitting around the fire pit my oldest and his girlfriend gave us for Christmas, and just talking into the evening.

and these grasshopper parfaits for the Nativity of St. John the Baptist!

I am hoping…

  • Get some flute practice done.
  • Start pondering my curriculum choices for next year and get ready for the big convention this weekend.
  • That Noah will be ready for the CLEP in American History 2 within the next few weeks.
  • Get the classroom cleaned up.

I am looking forward to...

Reunions with family members this summer.
