Taking my mind off the election – the Walking Dead

And what a better way to do that than to watch a women die in childbirth during the zombie apocalypse!?

I watched the latest episode of the Walking Dead, and discovered that the show was going to stray from the comic book and kill off its leading lady, Lori Grimes, in childbirth.  When I watched it the first time, I didn’t cry or even feel sad because I was living in denial – the kind of denial that said, “They couldn’t possibly kill of Lori!!”   And even when they cut her open with a dirty knife in a filthy basement, with lots of blood, I kept thinking, “Well, she could probably survive this.”

Because after all, Hershel who must be around 120, survived a zombie bite and an in-the-field emergency amputation!

But when young Karl, shot her in the head so that she wouldn’t turn into a zombie, I realized the gig was up. So watching it the second (third, fourth and fifth) times, I balled my eyes out.

Nothing like a little end-of-the-world action to take my mind off the election and that possible end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it scenario!
