Spread the love

Outside my window

I am thinking…
about this movie Mr. Pete and I watched on Friday.  It is called Ricky and it is about an ordinary couple who fall in love and have a baby boy.  When the child is a few weeks old he starts to sprout wings and fly around.  The entire movie is in French with subtitles but it was easy to follow the story even if you don’t read the words.

At the end of the movie, Baby Ricky has accidentally flown away and been on his own for weeks.  His mother, fearing that he has died, is about to commit suicide when Ricky flies to her and she gets to see that he is alright. He doesn’t let her catch him and they don’t go home together, but in the very last scene she seems very content to just be with Ricky’s father, her daughter and the new baby that she is expecting. It was as if she had to see that he would be okay and then she could let go of her life and dreams with him.

I am thankful for…

for my family.

From the learning rooms
Gabe and Noah  are starting the Theology of the Body Course from Homeschool Connections . They also need to get to work on Latin 2 on Rosetta stone.  Both are doing fine with science and math.  We need to work more on writing.

Sam is still getting ready for CLEP Analyzing Literature. But it’s clear this is NOT an easy test for him because you aren’t learning facts or memorizing formulas – you have to READ the passage and answer questions about it.  He took a practice test last week and he only got a 44.  But, when we read the answers his guesses were always something like, “although the passage did talk about childbirth, this is not the best answer.”  So it was as if he always picked the “almost, but not quite” answer.  He’s going to continue practicing this, but also going on to American History I – which is not as subjective.

Izzy is doing great with the Diane Craft method of right-brain training – I can’t believe how much better she is doing.  She started the year two years behind in math and by the end of the year she will only be 1/2 a year behind.  I’m very happy with her progress. She is also working on Apologia Creation science Anatomy and Physiology.

Rosie is now in the Pathway Readers and loving it. She  is doing well in Math too  – in fact she picks up very quickly.

From the kitchen…
Turkey tetrazinni
Chili
Barbecued chicken breasts
Left overs – hopefully!!
Tuna casserole

I am wearing…
Black pants, purple long-sleeved sweater/shirt

I am creating…
an Irish music performance.  I was asked to perform some Irish music on my flute, I have my music and we have our first rehearsal tonight.

I am going…
to get four workouts in this week if it kills me. (I know I said that last week didn’t I?)  But I did get in  three last week.  I did:
Cathe Friedrich’s Shock Cardio – it was a shock alright. Mainly because this is really, really difficult choreography! Not going to give up on it though.

Karen Voight – which I like more and more every time I do it.

and

Shred with weights. If you want to know what gets shredded – it’s your back side. I felt great Friday when I did the workout. Was stiff on Saturday and could hardly get out of bed on Sunday though I’m feeling a bit better now. I always think of my legs as being the strongest and my upper body as being weaker but this video proved me wrong. My upper arms and chest feel great. But the thighs and glutes are still screaming.

I’m using a 12 pound kettle bell and wonder if I should up the weight to 15 pounds?  Of course I only did the first workout. Maybe I should advance to the second one and see how I feel before I buy a heavier bell.

I am reading…

I am hoping…
Gabe and Noah can finish Moby Dick – they are now on their own with Libra Vox.  Also hoping to get to a day or two of the parish mission this week.  They have a Paulist priest visiting and his homily at church today was very good.  I am also hoping to go out to dinner with Mr. Pete on Tuesday since he will be working on Valentine’s day.

I am also hoping to get my 100th follower on Google Friend Connect. So if you feel so inclined and you haven’t joined yet, won’t you click the “Join This Site” button in the right side bar pretty please!!”

I am hearing…
Sophie, our dog barking because she wants to go out.

Around the house…
Lots of laundry – I have a gentleman coming on Tuesday to take bags and bags of clothes we have outgrown for some homeless people who live in town.  I hope that they get a lot of use out of them and that it blesses them. I am getting rid of baby clothes too. I figure if and when I ever get grandchildren I’ll just start out new.

Got Turbo tax downloaded and the preliminary information transferred – it’s a start!
