  • BREAKING: Baby Joseph dies at home, surrounded by family | LifeSiteNews.com tags: mothersloveyourbabies obamacare
    • Baby Joseph’s story began in February of this year when the  Ontario Superior Court rejected an appeal by his parents to bring him home where  he could die under their care. He had been previously diagnosed with severe  neurological issues, for which doctors said there was no hope of recovery. The family contested claims that their son was in a “permanent  vegetative state,” offering footage showing him flailing and reacting to  tickling. Their request was that their son be given a simple tracheostomy, which  would enable him to breathe on his own, and be sent home where he could die. After the decision of the Ontario court, doctors immediately  scheduled the removal of Baby Joseph’s life support, meaning almost certain  death for the young child. “Monday at 10 am. they will kill my baby,” Moe Maraachli had  told LifeSiteNews shortly after the ruling.  “There’s no more  humanity.  There’s no more chance.  I’ve tried everything for  him.  No more appeals, nothing.” However, anti-euthanasia and pro-life advocates rallied around  the Maraachli family, and effected a dramatic 11th-hour rescue.  Schadenberg and his organization were able to secure  professional legal help, with the result that the removal of Baby Joseph’s life  support was postponed at the last minute.

  1. As per usual you're making a thorny medical, and ethical issue and using it to justify your paranoid hatred of Canada and our excellent health care. To call this case a symptom of "obamacare" is insulting and completely wrong. Seriously what is wrong with you that you think it's better that 17000 children die in your country due to not having access to health care than one child be denied an unnecessary, painful and dangerous procedure to postpone his inevitable death. I have met these parents in person and they are head cases who are in denial that they are carriers of a genetic disease and that any of their children are going to suffer and then die. It doesn't help them when the anti-healthcare zealots hold them up as some sort of example of what Canadian health care does rather than treat it for what it was: a single case concerning a terminally ill child and an ethical choice not to prolong his suffering

  2. 1. I don't hate Canada. Only been there once and it was lovely.

    2. That you have an excellent health care system is debatable considering the Canadians that come into this country for care.

    3. No where did I call it a "Symptom of obamacare"

    4. 17,000 children do not die in this country due to a lack of health care.

    5. Your impression of these parents is highly subjective.

    6. I hardly think taking a kid off of life support when his parents have requested that he die at home is an "ethical choice."

Interestingly Linds, besides following my blog what other hobbies do you have?

  3. Look Linds,

You've managed to make at least 8 comments that I could verify (I changed commenting services) but each one has been adversarial and confrontational.

    Chill. Out.

and yeah… my kids have their issues. But at least they know if you can't say something nice…
