Outside my window…

After some teasingly nice spring-like weather we are heading back into the freezer this week with highs in the 20s and 30s. It is snowing as I write this.
I am thinking…
about my busy week to come. My godson will be confirmed on Friday with rehearsal on Monday and Sam and Gabe will be singing with the Parish Choir with double duty in the youth group ensemble for confirmation. Monday I am recording a song, Tuesday I am giving a talk to the RCIA, Wednesday I am going to a homeschool dinner meeting with a speaker that I arranged, Thursday the boys have choir and Mr. Pete and I might be singing for a friend who is slipping away in hospice, and then next Sunday another concert. In between times there is transcription to be typed, the house to be kept, and homeschooling to be done. and here I was worried that I would be bored after Christmas!
I am thankful …
my surgery went very well. The doctor told Mr. Pete they made the incision and that little lipoma popped right out ( of course then he had to cut it out but at least it made it easier!) and what a lot of fuss for a 6 cm lipoma! I had hoped that I would roll up my sleeve, get a few numbing shots and then have it cut out. Instead I actually had to go without food and drink, get gowned up, have an IV and then they knocked me out for the procedure. Getting over the anesthesia has been worse than actually getting the stupid bump cut off! Still it doesn’t hurt too badly and I’m glad it’s gone – at least until I see how much it will cost me.
From the learning rooms…
Gabe and Noah are hitting Rosetta Stone Latin consistently, as well as General Science although Noah just pulled ahead on both those fronts.
Sam is working on his next CLEP test in Science. He is also working on Spanish II, pre-Calc and literature. He has to get his graduation composition done this week!!! The first part is on how homeschooling has affected his life and the second part is on his relationship with Jesus. I have decided to have him graduate with the state-wide homeschool group at the convention in the spring and he will have to write an essay for that.
Izzy is working in language arts, spelling (Spelling Power) reading and is up to lesson 114 in Saxon math!
Noah is in lesson 113 as well.
Gabe is in lesson 46 with pre-Algebra. We are really getting into the area of math my brain has chosen to erase. Luckily Sam knows a lot of algebra. On the other hand, I am amazed at how much I am able to comprehend at my age when I couldn’t understand it in high school. I really think a lot of it is that these math books are so well done and present the material in an easy to understand manner. I also think that my math teachers in high school, overall, sucked at teaching math. I can come to no other conclusion.

I am creating…
a speech for RCIA – because it seems that I have to get all my public speaking done during this four to six week period! LOL! In my heart of hearts I would really like to do a lot of speaking all the time, and maybe even make it my next career.
My audience ranges from second grade to old married couples. I’m kind of hoping the second grader won’t be there as my talk on marriage touches on contraception, chastity, NFP and stuff like that. I have no clue how to phrase it in such a way as to make an impact on the ones who need to hear it while protecting innocent ears at the same time!
I also arranged with one of our wonderful parish priests to come and give a talk to my home school group about living the Liturgical year and keeping our kids Catholic. It is a dinner meeting with the speaker after and I thought, when I set it up, that we would have standing room only type crowds! I have been so disappointed by the lack of response. To make it worse, because I won’t hit my minimum number of people for the dinner, I’m going to have to pay the room fee, or at least our treasury will. This will most definitely be the last dinner/speaker meeting combo that I arrange. Ever.
I am going…
to take it easy this week but add in some exercise. Since my knee still hurts and I have stitches in my wrist I’m having to moderate a lot. So it’s Jiggle Free Abs, The Firm Lower Body Sculpt which is done sitting down, and possibly some Stability Ball
I am hoping…
RCIA talk and the dinner meeting go well.
I am hearing…
nothing but the buzz in my ears.
I have proof now that I have a little haring loss. I was standing in the laundry room with the dryer going and I could not hear the phone ring. Sam heard it. That’s a little unsettling.
Around the house…
is a mess. I know I complained about this last week, but this week I was out of commission on Friday and Saturday and NO ONE PICKED UP ANYTHING. Back on track next week.
