Outside my window…
Sunny, hot and humid. You definitely need your shades!

Here is what it looks like in this part of Ohio.  A scene from our summer picnic yesterday – Calvin helping the lovely Sarah across the river with Sam and Gabe looking on.

I like Sarah a lot. I tease her that if it doesn’t work out with Calvin, I still have three other sons – which makes Noah a little nervous! 

I am thinking…
about taking each and every day and making it the very best possible. I am also thinking about scheduling appointments for myself and my computer during my busiest client’s vacation time!

Oh, and I got a call from the doctor’s office about a balance on my account for that strep throat that I thought I had paid in full.  I haven’t received a bill from her office in over a year and I know I paid off the hospital portion after mom died.  I think I might fight her on this – how can they not send a bill in over a year and then call you about a balance is beyond me!

I am thankful …
that Calvin got to keep his job. It seems that with the new Health Care Bill and cuts to Medicaid coupled with the bad economy, even basic health care transports are no longer being paid to the point that makes it profitable. Calvin had several things working for him – he gets his work done, he is able to carry and lift big loads, and on the 19th of this month he will be old enough to drive the ambulance. I think those are the stars that lined up so that he was able to keep his job.

From the learning rooms…
I have a lot of angst about our homeschool. Sam will be in his Senior year, and he is the first one I have homeschooled all the way through. I am looking forward to starting him in the College Plus program in August. But I know with my other kids and starting Rosie in the fall I will have a very full plate!

From the kitchen…
Some summer dishes. My boys LOVED this dish from last week.  Taco soup was also a surprising hit!

a new look for my front porch!

I am going…
to have a slow week. I am debating about putting my kids into cross country camp for next week or just take it easy. I am leaning towards taking it easy!

A Simple Guide to the Spiritual Life which is a good read by the way.

I am hoping…
to survive the brutal summer heat and still get my workouts in.

I am hearing…
the humm of the air conditioner.

But what is surprising to me is what I am not hearing?  I am not hearing any of the Obama supporters from the last election opine about the state of the country.  We are still at war, the unemployment rate is soaring, the economy is flat and come this January we get socked with huge tax increases.  On the other hand I am not seeing as many Obama/Biden bumper stickers so maybe that says something.
