Spread the love

Outside my window
it is just very frustrating- clear, beautiful, sunshiny and pleasant one day; cold, damp, wet, miserable the next.  I’m really over it.

I am thinking…
a lot about Sam’s last year of high school AND of course having that inadequate feeling that I didn’t do enough, or that I could have done more, or that I should have spent more money on this program, or that program. But in the end, when I think about it, he has gotten a program heavy with college prep Algebra and Geometry, TONS of literature and history and full of music which was his interest. The only thing we might be a bit light on is writing and I am going to gear up on that this summer. But really, I gave him the kind of high school experience I wish I had had, so I guess I can’t be too upset about that.

I am thankful for…
overall good health. I really have taken that for granted, but being injured reminds me.

Incidentally this is the real color of one of my bruises

purple
and this is the color scheme that goes with it!

From the learning rooms
We are doing just light homeschooling this week focusing on science, history and geography. Today and Thursday are overshadowed with the trips to Cleveland and Thursday is always music lesson day, so I just feel like skipping math and reading and just do our unit studies instead.

On the bright side, Gabe has taken to ALEKS like a fish to water!! He is doing so well in it and I am so glad we switched. He already has 25% of the current level done. If he keeps on like this he still might be just about right for algebra in the fall.

From the kitchen…
I made a really delicious, inexpensive meal tonight for dinner.  I boiled some rice and added some Cream of Onion soup to it, then I put in some frozen corn and sliced up Lite Spam, topped with a little cheddar and voila! Dinner.  It was easy, inexpensive and tasty.  I really think Spam gets a bad rap – I rather like it!

I am wearing…
Black pants and black T and unfortunately a gray sweat shirt!  All on top of my handy-dandy body shaper that is helping my back to feel almost human@

I am creating…
some files on my MP3 player (that I got for Mother’s Day, so that I can listen to all of the talks I downloaded from the Ultimate Homeschool Expo!

I am going…
to the CHEO convention next month!

I am reading…
I am re-reading Real Learning

I am hoping…
to at least get some walking in this week and maybe some upper body work in. I really don’t want to lose too much of the ground I had before my little accident.

I am hearing…
Izzy practicing her piano.

Around the house…

I continue to need help, especially with picking stuff off of the floor and driving.  I CAN pick stuff off the floor and I CAN drive, but it hurts to do both.  It’s amazing to me the stuff my family will step right over without giving it a second thought!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
We are concentrating on the choir contest this week up at the Cathedral.  If we can get through that intact, we will be all doing well.  It is going to require a trip for the family up to the big city!  The little(er) kids have never really explored Cleveland before so this will be fun for them.  We are going to eat up there and then go listen to the choirs sing.
