Spread the love

Outside my window
Be still my heart – clear blue skies, mild temperatures, chirping birdies, playful squirrels – could it be spring?

I am thinking…
about what an awesome weekend I had!

Took five hours to write a 30 minute speech, but I sure did dive into the scriptures and catechism which is like a mini retreat for me!

Watched Sam and Gabe, my awesome sons, at the confirmation retreat over the weekend and saw them interact with a great community of high schoolers, jr. high kids, adult leaders and priests. It really was just an inspiring thing to see everyone so faith filled and really, really ready for the big event to happen this Friday!

Had a very nice evening out with my sister and her gentleman friend at a grownup restaurant, where they bring the food to you on a plate!

And had a table full on Sunday – which is my dream come true! With all of my kids including Calvin, his roommate and Sam’s girlfriend. I bought that table with money I got from my mom. I can’t help but think she is probably enjoying all of the family meals memories and fellowship that gift is bringing to our family.

I am thankful …
a great church community. It seems when I look back, that God always puts me and my family in the places we need to be at the time we need to be there. I don’t even worry about that any more.

From the learning rooms
Sam is starting 12th night in Shakespeare! Gabe and Noah continue to read short stories, Izzy is almost towards the end of her Pathway Reader, and little Rosie is begging to learn numbers and letters! That little sprite came up to me with pages full of squiggles and told me she had written a story that she wanted to read to me! It figures that the natural reader and writer would come at the end of my homeschool career eh!?

From the kitchen…
Roasted chicken.  But I gotta tell you I am loving that Biggest Loser Family Cookbook: Budget-Friendly Meals Your Whole Family Will Love cookbook. I made this recipe last week from that book and everyone loved it!

I am wearing…

Black pants, black shirt and vest and my walking shoes.(chuckle – that’s what I had on last week too!)

I am creating…
hopefully some nice memories for Gabe at his confirmation.

I am going…
to try really hard to get some more typing in or I’m not going to have a very big paycheck by the 15th!

I am reading…

A picture I am sharing:
When Harry Met Sammy

I made this magazine cover to poke Sam a little.  Sam, Mr. Pete, Mr. Harry  and some other adults and high school students spent the night with the confirmation candidates on retreat. It turns out 8th graders still like to goof around until the wee hours of the morning so none of the responsible folks got much sleep.  The guitarists also forgot to get a music stand so I’m guessing those cords on the floor after only a few hours of sleep started to get pretty blurry after a while.  But those guys were great and with Gabe’s drum beat kept the energy going!
