Spread the love

I am thinking…
about Calvin and his friends. It seems to me as though the homeschooled kids of his age group are all to varying degrees taking a walk on the wild side. OK, we’re not talking major drugs, group sex and lots of tattoos – but a certain falling away from the faith and educational goals. Although I wonder for some of them if this is just a mild rebellion and trying to discover oneself that happens in young adulthood?

Calvin assures me that he is abstaining from alcohol until he and Sarah hit 21 this summer and when they hope to celebrate together. And knowing those two I’ll bet it will be over a nice glass of wine at dinner and not a bottle of beer in the living room.

I am thankful …
for my nephew who spent a few days with us again this past weekend. What a delightful young man he is becoming! And how nicely I think he fits in here with his other boy cousins. He even did something for me that some of my sons don’t do – he let me take his arm while we were walking out of church.

From the learning rooms
Putting lots of emphasis on grammar, writing and science this week.

From the kitchen…
Meatloaf tonight I think.
I am wearing…

Black pants, black shirt and vest and my walking shoes.

I am creating…
some nice copies of letters that people have e-mailed me to give to Gabe for his confirmation retreat this weekend.

I am going…
to try really hard to get three workouts in this week.  It is so hard to get the time when I’m driving and doing for everyone else during the week.

I’m also going to get my chairs back from Calvin.  He came over for Sunday dinner yesterday – which was nice and then stayed to watch the Olympic Gold Medal Hockey game.  Then while I wasn’t looking he swiped three of the chairs I use for homeschooling  and told me about it just as he was leaving! He needed them for a dinner party his roommate was having, but I wish he would have asked me for them first.  If I have to drive over there tonight I’m getting my chairs back!!

I am reading…
starting

The Hand of God: A Journey from Death to Life by the Abortion Doctor Who Changed His Mind  The Hand of God: A Journey from Death to Life by the Abortion Doctor Who Changed His Mind

I am hoping…
to meet my weight loss goal for the week.

I am hearing…
ears buzz and computer hum!

Around the house…

I have almost all of the boxes from mom’s storage area in my basement – We are slowly but surely going through them. I will be so happy when that is done and when her taxes are finished and the estate is closed. Doing all of this sort of stuff I think has prolonged and in a way intensified my grief forher.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
More laundry, more boxes, with a science experiment or two!

A picture I am sharing:

sleeping beauties
While some are still sleeping

others are already hitting the books!
