Spread the love

Outside my window
It is snowy!  The kind that I have to actually work to get off of my wnidshield.

I am thinking…
a lot of things. How sad it is to have this first Christmas without Mama. How excited Rosie is about Christmas, and how much work Christmas actually is!!

I am thankful for…
my family.  Mr. Pete and I have decided that these are the years now where we have to bind our children together as family, as clan, as community.  One of my fondest dreams is that my kids can be there for each other just as my grandfather’s family was and my grandmother’s too to some extent. And we redouble our efforts now with our own traditions and new traditions as our family has changed.  The worst thing that could happen would be for it all to fall apart because Grandma is no longer with us.

From the learning rooms
Light load this week I want to keep reading  theThe Screwtape Letters
I want to continue with A Philadelphia Catholic in King James’s Court with Gabe in preparation for confirmation.

Gabe finished his   10 day course with CurrClick and loved it!

From the kitchen…
Spaghetti.  Turkey for Christmas day

I am wearing…
Black pants and green sweater.  I also play one more concert tonight so this is what I’m wearing.

I am creating…
a clean house for the holidays.

I am going…
send my cards out this week and finish my shopping!  I also have to finish mom’s estate inventory.  Seems that if you don’t get that done in time they can issue a warrant for your arrest for contempt of court.  Label that , ‘Things your attorney forgot to mention!”   Although three square meals a day in beautiful upper Michigan sounds tempting!

I am reading…
Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book:4th Edition 2005
The Divine Office for Dodos: A Step-By-Step Guide to Praying the Liturgy of the Hours

I am hoping…
To have a peaceful Christmas Day and weekend. I am planning a post on Duggar Derangement Syndrome – which has been rampant over the past week since the birth of little Josie Duggar.

I am hearing…
a dog barking outside.

On Friday night though I heard a series of gun shots.  I thought maybe it was firecrackers but the police showed up and even came to the back door to ask me some questions!  Turns out someone drove by and shot a gun at the house across the street and I guess an arrest was made.  You don’t get that kind of excitement in the suburbs!

Around the house…

everyone is still sleeping! Except Mr. Pete who is at work.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
I have to get the cemetery to sprinkle Raphael’s grave with glitter and sing silent night.  Mr. Pete bought something to put in front of Mom’s niche.  Never decorated a niche before.  Christmas eve will be hectic with the kids singing at 4 and the big kids singing at midnight.  Mr. Pete and I have opted out of singing for Christmas Day, first time in a long time.
