Spread the love

Outside my window
Fall is here…

I am thinking…
thoughts while still coming to terms with mom’s death. In a way, literally watching her die has helped me accept in some way my own mortality. The body will do what the body has to do. I can’t stop death any more than I can stop aging or any of the rest of it. And in many ways watching the last hour or so of life was like watching a woman in labor. It was raw, visceral, very personal and the person going through it, even if surrounded by a lot of love and support, still has to do it alone. Alone, but not lonely if that makes any sense.

I am thankful for…
the wonderful CYO cross country team my children have been involved with. When I lost a client five years ago, I was so upset that I would not be able to afford to keep my children on the swim team. Then this new team started and we got involved. My kids have benefited from the fun and fitness of it ever since. It has been such a big part of our lives and we all have enjoyed being a part of it so much.

From the learning rooms
Going to look at the PSAT test materials with Sam, along with Latin and Greek roots and prefixes and suffixes. Holding off on Spanish Rosetta stone until then. Sam is also taking a class on line for British literature – starting with the Canterbury tales!

From the kitchen…
Black beans and rice along with vegetable crock pot lasagna for this week.

I am wearing…
I bought some work out pants and an old maternity top for doing some housework.

I am creating…
a photo album of cross country pictures for our banquet at the end of the season.

I am going…
to continue my new exercise regimen. So far, so good.

I am reading…

Anticancer: A New Way of Life
(although personally I don’t think there’s much you can do about it – still it’s worth a look.)

Senior High: A Home-Designed Form+U+La
The most intriguing homeschool book I’ve read in a long time!

Francis Beckwith’s Return to Rome.  I first heard about this book from  Pastor Bartalucci who is pretty negative towards Beckwith’s return to Catholicism.

I am hoping…
that this week will not be as busy as last week!

I am hearing…Tamara and Izzy sing downstairs. They are so funny!

Around the house…
Mr. Pete knocked down our car port – on purpose. Have to figure out how to make it all fit in our dumpster.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Ditto above!
