Outside my window
Looks like rain – again. We have had the rainiest spring I can remember.

I am thinking…
that we are probably facing the last few weeks of my mother’s life. I saw her last night and all she wanted to do was sleep. I can check off so many of the end-of life signs that I can no longer think that maybe we still have years or months left. I think we’re looking at weeks or days.

I am thankful for… Calvin’s safe return home from his vacation. I missed him. He had a great time though and did put some thought into what his future plans will be.

From the learning rooms…we continue to plug away at schooling. I did find out from Sam’s math tutor that he is almost done with geometry and will be starting Algebra 2! He should be in great shape for the PSAT in the fall.

From the kitchen… Mr. Pete proudly brought home chicken thighs and pork steak that were both on sale this weekend. You’d think he had gone out and killed these animals with his bare hands or something! Nonetheless he did get great deals on them and I’m thinking baked barbecued chicken thighs for tonight with mashed potatoes and side salad!

I am wearing…light blue capris and a striped T-shirt that Mr. Pete thinks is his, but it looks better on me – so there ya go!

I am creating… I dunno. I don’t think of creating much this week. I think I’m on a death vigil.

I am going… to try to walk or exercise every day this week. I got in a nice 2 mile walk this morning in around 45 minutes. That included a bit of stretching time.

I am reading… Uncle Tom’s Cabin because Sam is reading it for American Lit.

Also College-Prep Homeschooling: Your Complete Guide to Homeschooling Through High School which is sort of blowing my mind right now with all the great tips in it!

I am hoping… to list some more things on eBay and make some plans for next school year. I have some questions for my mom too that I hope to ask her while she can still talk – if she wants to.

I am hearing… The air conditioner which actually masks the usual buzzing in my ears.

Around the house…More spring cleaning and some eBay listings.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I have a care meeting for mom on Thursday and then Sam leaves for the youth conference on Friday! Something kind of sad with something kind of joyous- a nice balance towards the end of the week.

A picture I am sharing:
Sam at homeschool dance 2009
Sam and some other homeschoolers at the annual homeschool dance! There really were more guys there but Sam always seemed to end up dancing with the ladies. He’s not shy. Note that he wore dress pants, a nice shirt, and athletic shoes!! Probably very wise for a night of dancing!
