Mom

Mom continues to be weak and sleepy. She wanted a Popsicle and none could be found! So I jumped in my car and road down to the grocery store. I bought the biggest box I could find. Maybe 24 Popsicle is being overly optimistic. OR if she knows she can have them she’ll ask for them more frequently!

I know many of you will find this odd, but I have not talked to mom about death (other than how to avoid it) at all. Today I mustered my courage and asked her,

“Mama, what’s the first thing you want to do when you get to heaven?”

Without hesitation she replied, “Find Raphael.”

That’s the perfect grandma answer and it makes sense that she would want to meet and hold the grandchild she never got to spoil in this life.

I think this time with mom is some of the hardest I have had in my life – definitely in the top three! And as an additional bonus, I think the stress of this has finally started me into menopause. I have had warm hands and arms all weekend off and on. Is it possible to have hot flashes only in your hands?
