Simple Woman

Spread the love

Outside my window
My magnolia tree started to bloom – so of course we are supposed to get snow today and tomorrow to kill the buds just so the tree can’t reach it’s complete springtime glory. This happens most years and it is so disappointing. Whose idea was it to plant a magnolia tree in Northeast Ohio anyway?

I am thinking…
that we are going to walk our own road to Calvary this week. My mom, most likely, sometime this week, will have the huge, probably cancerous, mass removed from her abdomen this week, and then we will start the weeks of painful recovery. I would rather undergo abdominal surgery myself than to watch my mother do it. Being on the side as an active observer is so difficult.

I am thankful for… for having my sister, my husband, my children and my nieces and nephews to help and for the support we give each other. I also sent out an e-mail to all of the distant cousins and have gotten supportive e-mails back.

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of family. And I might as well get this off my chest too but I think when couples make the decision to only have one child because of hardships and struggles they face now, they are being very shortsighted. Because the struggles with little kids NOW is NOTHING like the struggles that are down the road. A big family helps to shoulder some of burdens, spreads comfort, and helps to cheer and encourage.

From the learning rooms…Spring break. Thank God.

From the kitchen… BBQ chicken today. Soups and simple meals starting Wednesday through Saturday.

I am wearing…Gray sweatpants and a pink top that I bought last week to wear on the retreat with my niece.

I am creating… a poster of pictures for my mom’s hospital room.

I am going… try to walk or exercise every day, even if it snows!

I am reading… Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time It’s Valerie Bertinelli’s autobiography. So far I have found it to be very disappointing.

I am hoping… just to get through the week.

I am hearing… nothing.

Around the house… when I am not at the hospital, I hope to do some spring cleaning.

A few plans for the rest of the week:Keep up with my typing, work in some exercise, deep clean the house.

A picture I am sharing:
