Our dining room table for a large family

We have never had a “great” dining room table. We use to have an adequate one that we got at a yard sale, but that died about 10 years ago when we had our 4th little boy! To accommodate our large family and occasional guests we needed something sturdy.

So we bought a dining room table at a yard sale, and a craft table at a school sale and put the two together!

Then I usually cover them with one large table cloth or two separate cloths. For Lent, I bought two large plastic table cloths for about $2 each.

Then I cover both tables with a huge sheet of clear plastic. I got mine at Walmart – 10 feet for about $8. This protects my cloths and makes cleaning up after the kids eat a lot easier!

Then the really nice thing is that you can display pictures, art prints, maps, whatever you want under the plastic and it won’t get ruined! Kids can look at it while they’re eating!
