They were nice – dang it!

Spread the love

Up until 5:00 last night I was going back and forth over whether or not to take that new transcription job or not.

PROS:
More money
Different accounts with interesting work and adding to my experience.
Great to have a new account in a down economy.

CON:
Taking up more of my time requiring a 4:45 a.m. wake up!
Juggling all of the other transcription jobs and homeschooling and housework.
No time for a lot of other extras including church music.
Burn out.

So I made up my mind that I would politely go through the training and then just send a polite e-mail that I had changed my mind. But talking with the trainer gave me a new perspective. This gal was soooo nice, and funny and encouraging. She has been with this company for five years and loves it! She had nothing but nice things to say about everybody and really enjoys the clients and the workload. She made ME enthusiastic about joining the team. So… God help me, I start on Monday!

My plan is to work between 5 and 7 a.m., homeschool. Take an hour to shower, get dressed, pray and prepare, homeschool between 8 and 3:30. Exercise for an hour, finish dinner and then work again until 10 p.m. It’s doable. Not fun, but doable.

Dinners are going to be spelled out the first of the week and Sam, Gabe, Izzy and Noah are going to have to help me. And before I hear boo hooing about how nasty I am for making my kids work let me just say that when I left home I was a great baker – I could make cookies and cakes and brownies out the wazoo – but had no clue what to do with a roast! When my kids leave, they will be able to do laundry and make a nutritious meal and I don’t think it’s burdensome for them each to take a turn at it at ages of almost 16, 13, almost 11 and 9! I’d put Calvin (almost 20) on for a turn too but he’s never home and Rosie is too little, although she’s a great little taste tester.

So that’s my survival plan as medical transcription/homeschool juggling mom!
