Hope for the nation

Spread the love

From my beautiful and very smart niece, who will be adding the credential “college graduate” to her resume this spring!

“But tonight, I can’t help but mourn for those who have been doomed to die. While his rhetoric about solving ‘the heart of the issue’ — birth control and education — sounds practical, in the world we live in, legalizing abortions only makes abortions more frequent, more acceptable, and more tragic. It hurts the African American community more than any other demographic. I’ve lost track of how many of my friends have had abortions, how many countries allow stem cell research uncontrolled and uninhibited.

President Bush kept these numbers in check. He may not have done as much as many would have liked, but progess was made. The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003, and his refusal to spend taxpayer dollars on abortion or stem cells. However, he honored and understood his role and limits as president and refused to change the Constitution or use abortion as a litmus test for his court appointments. I hope President Obama will have the same wisdom and respect for our nation’s highest office.

I pray that he will not push FOCA, despite his promises to the Planned Parenthood, and that he will not use abortion as a litmus test in any court appointments he may make, and show the same respect for the Constitution.

It is lamentable that for one group of people once considered non-human to move forward, another, the most innocent, had to be sacrificed.”
