Spread the love

Sorry for the slow blogging – the new school year is always an adjustment. I am trying to be more conscientious about writing in my homeschool blog and have been doing that mostly this week.

My head is not quite into the political thing this week, although I was THRILLED to see McCain/Palin ahead in a couple of polls.

The Bristol Palin thing has been on my mind a bit though. I read another blogger say she felt a little weird about Bristol’s boyfriend and the baby’s daddy at the covention as if he were already a part of the family. Yea, that creeped me out a little bit too, because expectations can be a difficult thing. I don’t think either of them should feel like they HAVE to get married right now if they’re not really ready for it. All of these public appearance my start feeling like a lot or pressure to wed – ready or not.

Speaking of older teenagers, mine are keeping me pretty busy. Saturday Calvin told me that his girlfriend was not feeling well, and I immediately asked him if she was pregnant, which he took as an insult. Well, I didn’t mean it that way. I was thinking in terms of keeping the lines of communication open by putting the question out there first. But he didn’t take it that way. Naturally he told her, and she was mad at me too. I did apologize to Calvin if I hurt his feelings. I told him I was just doing the mom thing.

Of course they got ticked at me later when they were studying together and I kept sending Rosie over there to keep the door open. Okay- trust, but verify! That’s my motto. I think in the old days we called it avoiding the near occasion of sin.

Sam and Gabe, at 15 and 13, want to “hang” with their friends outside until 9:30. I am so praying for cold weather and a snow storm to drive them back into the house. I did lay down some rules last night though, when I came into the messy kitchen. Homework and housework have to be done before anyone goes outside! I think that’s reasonable.
