Prayers answered, soft of!

Spread the love

This week I have received the answer to two of my prayers.

Our pastor of 12 years is retiring. Although I love him very much, we have had our moments. Still it is scary to have the spiritual leader of your parish leave. I was hoping that we would not get someone even more liberal in orientation. That prayer has been answered. Our new pastor is younger than I am (Now that IS a weird feeling!) and appears to be very orthodox in his Catholicism AND he’s a blogger! Perfect!

The other answer to prayer is Calvin is not leaving to go on vacation with his girlfriend’s family. At least not today. Apparently their grandma fell and broke her hip and then suffered two heart attacks. She is not doing well. Calvin was actually mad at ME for this. “I know you’ve been praying that something would screw up this vacation.” Well, I was but didn’t pray that anyone would be harmed or get sick! I was thinking more along the line of a change of heart on his part, bad weather, car problems, that sort of thing.

So if Calvin is NOT going on vacation, perhaps he can attend his school’s commencement ceremony which would be very nice for us. I have had more than one of his teachers at the school beg me to make him go to graduation! So maybe he will.

So maybe God will answer a few more prayers. Please pray that their grandma is on the mend and feeling better soon, that our new pastor feels welcomed and at home in his new parish, and that our retiring pastor finds the rest and enjoyment that he is seeking in a happy retirement.

  1. Here is my prayer that Calvin attends the graduation. There are few things that say “circle of life” like the sending off a child-especially one who has been cared for deeply.
Our own family circle continues to grow- my neice has passed the 21 week mark of her second pregnancy. Her first was born at 20 weeks- and died in her arms- so unexpectantly. My nephew was SO crushed. God is good to deliver a second chance to say hello to His face in the eyes of children- our children.
What an honor that we are entrusted with His gifts- even when it is time to send them on their way.
