Spread the love

I spotted two celebrities with rosaries this month on television!

The first was Scott Baio on his television program, Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant.

In case you haven’t been following that one, Scott Baio (formerly of Happy Days and Charles in Charge) has had a hard time making commitments. Last season (On Scott Baio is 45 and Single) Scott hired a life coach to help him come to terms with why he was having such a hard time asking his long-suffering girlfriend to marry him and settle down. After coming to terms with his past and some other issues, the season finale had Scott asking his girlfriend to marry him. But the last laugh was on Scott. His girlfriend accepted his proposal and then told him that they were already pregnant!

At the start of this season, Mr. Baio was freaking out about his impending fatherhood, marriage and pretty much the end of life as he lived it. To help face this “crisis” Scott returned to his roots in New York, and even more interestingly we saw him return to his Catholic faith for some answers and assurance. There is a scene were Scott talks to a Catholic nun in his boyhood church about how to be a good husband and father. Shortly after that we see him saying the rosary in front of votive candles. Whether this is the start of a reversion back to his Catholic faith remains to be seen. I do know that he and his girlfriend did have a cute baby girl, and they were married (but on a rooftop somewhere, not in a church).

Also last week I saw Farrah Fawcett on television holding a rosary as she undergoes cancer treatment for her colon cancer. Ms. Fawcett was also raised Catholic. I understand that her malignancy is pretty aggressive and that she has sought treatment in Germany for some experimental procedures that are not available here in the US. I don’t know if Ms. Fawcett has returned to her Catholic faith or not. Sometimes God uses these hardships in our lives as an opportunity to renew our faith and find comfort in His love. I hope the rosary continues to bring Farrah Fawcett much comfort and peace.
