Amy Young’s witness on EWTN

If you missed Amy Young’s appearance on the Journey Home this week, it is available at the EWTN Audio Library dated 2/25/2008. It’s also available on DVD for $15.00 here.

Mrs. Young is about my age. She came of age during the 1970s and was a young college student in the earl 80s. She had an elective abortion of convenience while in college but the effects of that decision didn’t present themselves until 15 to 20 years later.

Mrs. Young also had a lot to say about carrying to term a baby with an anomaly incapatable with life. Long-time readers will recall that I cover that topic frequently on this blog. According to the medical advice Mrs. Young received, moms who opt to carry their child until a natural death (either in the womb of after birth) recover emotionally much faster than moms who chose to end the lives of their children through abortion or premature induction.

Mrs. Young describes both her abortion and the subsequent birth and death of her son (who was diagnosed with trisomy 18), as her chance at special redemptive suffering and how much closer sharing the cross brought her to Christ.

Her hour on The Journey Home with Marcus Grodi is inspiring and thought provoking and a must-see for young Catholic women and men.
