Spread the love

First a little cheer – God is Good, and God is Just.

Topeka, KS – Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Kay McFarland ruled today that the citizen-called grand jury set to investigate late-term abortionist George R. Tiller can move forward.

Best Gifts for Homeschoolers!

Regina Dorman is collecting teddy bears for Christmas in memory of her son Joshua.

Last year for Christmas, we collected teddy bears for our Christmas tree in memory of our son Joshua who died. Joshua’s family nickname was “Teddy Bear” and so we decided that for Christmas, we would decorate our tree with quality teddy bears. We gave some of them as gifts to any children who visited us during Christmas. And after Christmas, we donated them to a good cause: I gave them to a disaster-relief nurse who is taking them to expectant mothers in Africa. This year, I am looking into making a donation of the bears to our local hospital and emergency services.

What a lovely idea!

Sprittibee came up with this idea for cookie cans! They are so charming AND most importantly, I’ll bet they ship cheaply! Lesson learned the hard way for me last year, the money I saved baking cookies, were lost in shipping the cute ceramic bowls I bought to put them in!

Now this is food for thought – no money, no problem! Eat nutritiously on less!

You may not be able to afford the $6 a bottle pure fresh squeezed pomegranate juice, but that’s hardly an excuse to buy Kool-aid. You may not be able to afford top quality steaks and organic free range chicken, but you don’t have to eat potato chips and candy just because they’re cheap.

Nowhere else in the world are the poor so overweight, and so undernourished. There is an epidemic of over eating in the US, but very little of what is eaten is real food. Take for example peasant food in eastern Africa. It centers around teff, a highly nutritious hardy grain, and lentils, full of fiber and protein. In addition to this are locally available vegetables. All other things being equal, I would venture that a person eating this diet would be a good deal healthier than the North American peasant diet of mac and cheese and Twinkies.

Since Sam was reading the Scarlet Pimpernel last month this article at Tea at Trianon caught my eye!

Want to buy some kids’ books this season, but don’t know what to buy. Check out the Carnival of Kid’s Literature- chock full of good reviews and suggestions!

Student Loans- how to pay them off and build wealth! With my oldest graduating from high school this year, I am becoming more interested in this topic!

Tricia and her hubby have paid off half of their credit card debt! woo hooo!!!

Tricia also lets us know that Ohio will be considering a bill to make personal finance mandatory in the high school curriculum! I for one think it’s a good idea. Calvin made over $600 last summer and he’s broke. That was over the $700 we gave him from a fund that was started for him as a baby. So he went through $1300 while not paying room or board! That simply stuns me!

I’ve been introduced to three new (to me) blogs this month that I plan to keep watching.
