I’m not surprised at all. My husband and I both got a bit “up there” in our weight about 7 years ago. We went to Weight Watchers, together, to try to change our habits and lose the weight. We both had to lose 15% of our body weight to reach the goals we set for ourselves.
Simply by being bigger than me, his 15% represented almost double mine when broken down in pounds. But he STILL lost every single pound a full 5 weeks before I lost all of mine.
We ate probably 90% of the same things. We walked together in the mornings. In fact, I probably exercised more because my job at the time was a lot more physical than his.
