Mr. Pete FINALLY decided to do something about his nasty, bleeding, painful, swollen toe! Every night for three weeks, this guy has been soaking his foot in Epson salts, dousing it with Bactine, and wrapping it up with a bandage, and still everyday his sock is blood soaked. He is also in a lot of pain. Did I mention he’s a bit grouchy too?

Of course our toddler has managed to smash into his toe on a daily basis, but I think she is becoming somewhat frightened of her daddy because of the way he screams out in agony everytime she bumps it, steps on it, or basically comes anywhere near it!

This toe has become Mr. Pete’s new wife. He spends so much time caring and tending to her every night that I am sound asleep before he ever gets to bed. His night time toe ritual takes about 15 to 30 minutes (longer if it is really bleeding). He has to sleep on his back with his toe out from under the covers, and we can’t have the fan on because then his foot becomes too cold.

It’s not that Mr. Pete doesn’t want to see the doctor, it’s just that he is soooo busy at work right now. He did attempt to take this little growth off by hiself in the bathtub. It bled a lot but he thought it was successful. Unfortunately it was back the next day.

Today Mr. Pete was sitting at work, thinking about how much his toe hurt (although the Aleve I had for my backache really seemed to help both his toe and his plantar fasciitis!) and pondering whether or not he should go to the doctor and how he was going to find the time to go, when suddenly and unexpectedly all of the power in his area went out. Problem solved – he now had some time! He took it as a sign from God.

So Mr. Pete went to our local urgi care center and they told him he had a Pyogenic granuloma and a rather nasty one at that. They wouldn’t remove it there because these little buggers just bleed too much. The doctor who saw him said he had one on his hand and he bumped it on a pew at church and bled profusely over everything. These little granulomas bleed so much you’d think an entire limb had been severed. Apparently they made an appointment for Mr. Pete to see a plastic surgeon on Friday and they gave him some antibiotics. Hopefully after Friday, he’ll be feeling a lot better!
