Summertime, summertime…some more transitions!

Spread the love

Right now I feel fortunate to have survived the month of May!

1. My transcription work hit a record high (which means my fingers are but little nubs now!)
2. We made it through four soccer games every weekend except for Memorial Day weekend.
3. Izzy made her first communion. My house still sparkles from the effort to prepare it for her big day and party.
4. Gabe and Sam did well at their piano recital.
5. Sam and I did a nice job on our duet both at church and at the recital.
6. My mom’s health remains reasonably stable.
7. Izzy made it through her dance recital.
8. Calvin survived the SATs (although he will most definitely have to take them again!)
9. We survived the prom and all of the drama around that.
10. That lost check never did show up, but my client issued me a new one.
11. We survived the stomach flu.
12. Piano lessons, art classes, dance classes and soccer practices are finally over!
13. Except for Sam whose team made it into the championships.

I can feel new gray hairs starting to sprout as I compile the list! It was really a stressful month.

Just so none of us will be bored, new stresses are appearing on the horizon.

1. Sam got himself a job as a golf caddie at a local country club. He had his drug screen yesterday. He wants to work five days a week, but he still has to finish his Saxon Algebra 1/2 before high school starts, as well as his science.
2. The neighbor kids are starting to swarm my house after school every day.
3. Rosie is only taking 2 hour naps and she’s not sleepy until around 3:00 p.m.
4. My laundry is out of control again.
5. I’m walking a lot but my hip really hurts and I wonder if I’m getting arthritis in it or if I just pulled a muscle or something. Actually it’s been hurting since I was pregnant with Rosie but it’s annoying me more as I am really trying to be a conscientious walker/exerciser.
6. High school planning looms over me.
7. A summer homeschool schedule looms over me too!
8. Calvin’s 18th birthday is the biggest loomer of all! Will he be harder to live with once he becomes a legal adult? I certainly hope not.
9. Mr. Pete, Calvin and Sam will be gone for one weekend this summer for a Steubenville Youth Conference. I look forward to it and dread it at the same time. It will be good for them. It will be harder for me at home.
10. None of the doctors I type for have any vacation time scheduled. What’s up with that? Don’t they need a break? I sure do!!!
